Waimea Plantation Cottages Food Drive

Our Waimea Plantation Cottages team is gathering food donations for Nana’s House, the family resource center serving West Kauai. We’ll continue accepting donations of pantry staples through the holidays to support local keiki and ohana. Mahalo to all who contribute for helping to strengthen our Waimea community.

Holiday Traditions

Many Scandinavian traditions are observed by the Faye’s during the holidays, and one favorite is the Christmas Eve rice pudding. Before the family meal, everyone is served a small bowl, one of which contains a blanched almond. Whoever finds the almond must keep it tucked under their tongue until everyone finishes eating, which leads to plenty of guessing, teasing, and laughter.

Traditionally, the Scandinavian prize is a marzipan pig. But Pete Faye remembers receiving a silver dollar instead, and he still has two from childhood. Pete’s family revived the tradition last year and still uses an heirloom Norwegian centerpiece of Santa’s sleigh with a bag that holds the silver dollar. Maren Faye recalls winning a shoebox filled with pocket change one year. Whatever your own holiday traditions may be, we wish you a very merry Christmas.

Proud to Support Our Community

Pete Faye presents gift to Lynne Hashimoto Tamashiro and Russ Hasegawa of the Waimea Alumni and Friends Foundation.

For over a century, the Faye family and our former businesses— Kekaha Sugar and Waimea Sugar— played a vital role in supporting the health, recreation, and daily life of Kauai’s West Side. From contributing to housing, a swimming pool, a hospital, or town celebrations, the Fayes have been deeply committed to the community.

Today, Kikiaola Land Company continues this legacy of generosity and community support. This holiday season, we are especially grateful for the many organizations that enhance the quality of life on Kauai’s West Side. Through our giving program, Kikiaola Land Company proudly supports local non-profits, schools, and other charitable initiatives that help build a stronger, vibrant community.
